For those looking to spend time on the water, numerous reservoirs like Antero, Spinney, 11 Mile, and Lake George are less than 30 minutes away. Adventure seekers will love the proximity to Buena Vista for river rafting in the canyon, and skiers and hikers alike will appreciate the quick drive to Breckenridge (just 40 minutes away). Additionally, the historic and charming town of Fairplay is just a few minutes away by car, or you can take a walk or bike ride down the road to Tomahawk State Wildlife Area. Getting Around Town
Guests staying at Gilson Ranch can easily explore the surrounding area by car, and we highly recommend our Turo rental cars which are available at Denver International Airport. As All-Star hosts on Turo, you can expect the same high quality from our vehicles as you do from our homes. Please note that during the winter months, a 4x4 vehicle is recommended as the roads can be snowy and icy. But even if you're not driving, keep your eyes peeled for the abundant wildlife in the area, including elk, moose, deer, and cows.
